[E-textile] Nile Dwyer

My E-textile focused on an interactive circuit, similarly to my Illuminated Piano. In this project, touching two fingers of a glove would close the circuit activating an LED.

The design started with this diagram sketch, outlining how the circuits would work, the break representing a switch. I redrew the diagram on hands to make it clear how this was projected onto the glove. That break above translated into patches of the conductive thread that would be pressed together.

Just to make sure the idea was sound physically I tested a small sample on a piece of cloth. Touching together the two patches successfully lit the LED.

With the concept proven it was simply translated to the glove.

Expanding on this idea could possibly extend the circuit onto other fingers of the glove, but the current the parallel circuit implemented in this design prevents this in a way as it would reduce the brightness of all the LEDs as more are added. Further use of this concept may even lead to a touch circuit linking across a pair of detached gloves.
